What is it with conservatives and the taliban?

I've noticed a strange trend with conservatives lately on the far right end of the spectrum. I was watching a debate yesterday and it was about a range of topics. However, someone mentioned that the Taliban were tossing gay people off roofs and the conservatives in the group were telling that person that the Taliban only kills child molesters and they don't kill gay people but if they did, they're serial molesters. I've seen variations of far righters sticking up for the Taliban on a variety of subjects so I'm kind of wondering, WTF guys.

I’ve noticed it too. I’ve seen some “Taliban apologetics” on SW too. They claim they don’t agree with some of their more extreme measures, but they admire them for enforcing “traditional values”. Western conservatism is becoming more disillusioned with libertarianism and is starting to embrace more openly authoritarian ideology, especially when it comes to enforcing “morality”. Libertarianism didn't overturn Roe vs. Wade; it failed to do so for decades. Utilizing the power of the least democratic branch of the government is what finally got it done.

@SW-User I've seen that too and it's always alarming, even more shocking when you're watching a live debate and see one of those people in real time saying it. At first you like to think they're trolls but after watching debates and stuff, they're very serious in all honesty. Kind of scary.
