His history at home would certainly be a reason for any responsible parent to try and prevent him from owning a gun.. let alone sponsoring him .
I don't know if it rises to the level of criminal action but he's definitely liable civilly..

@Onestarlitnight As he should, I would feel bad if he truly didn't know but buying your son a gun and then acting stupid like you didn't know when he says he wants to murder people just makes me lack empathy for the guy.
