@SwampFlower Every winter a ton of seniors head for like, Arizona and Florida to escape the cold. Entire towns whose economies are based on it.

Canadians and Americans have always enjoyed a free border. Sure some places in the U.S. are warmer than in Canada during the few winter months, but that is only one, small reason Canadians like to go to the U.S. Canadians and Americans feel comfortable visiting in both countries because culturally we are much alike, less Quebec of course.

I was in a comedy club about 20 miles from the Canadian border. One of the comedians asked for a show of hands about how many Canadians were in the crowd. About three Canadians sheepishly raised their hands. I'm not going to say what the comedian said, but the house was roaring in laughter, and the Canadians all turned beet red with guilt. It's sad the world has to be like this.
