No but it's not something are neurologist recommended because there is limited research on people with autism and EMDR. It more for helping with trauma and anxiety then Autism really.

@Cigarguy what therapy is most effective for an autistic person like me?
Cigarguy · M
@GoldenOldie friend I am not a smart man so I couldn't even guess, I would strongly recommend you find yourself a good neurologist and work out something with them.

@Cigarguy ah I see! If it helps although I’m autistic; the therapy (EMDR) would be for OCD; with a large trauma element

@GoldenOldie my daughter and I both use ERP to help with our OCD. It's a lot of work but it's helping us both
GoldenOldie · 31-35, M
@Cigarguy is it adapted for autism? How do you find the ERP helps?
Cigarguy · M
@GoldenOldie no we use it for OCD. We both have it. And yes it's helping but like I said it takes time and work. It's not easy retraining the way you think and the progress can be small.

@Cigarguy ah; I have both!

How long did it take you and your daughter? Were there any tips or insights? Did you use self-therapy?
Cigarguy · M
@GoldenOldie we have just started the therapy less than a month ago so I cannot tell you much but we're making slow progress like I said try to find a neurologist that can help you
