I never heard of EMDR, but I have heard of other therapy methods.

I've tried EMDR, but for CPTSD, and it didn't work for me because I also have ADHD. Now I'm on medication for my ADHD and I'm going to try it again. But I'm doing it for my trauma.

Why do you think your OCD might be CPTSD?

If you think your diagnose is wrong, you should get tested again.

@Cassieeee oh I have AuDHD. I know CPTSD is common in AuDHD. My OCD is linked to a traumatic event that happened to me and a series of other “things”

Rumination, overthinking and dwelling on a thing. My “OCD” is real event OCD and pure-O (no obvious rituals involved)

ERP/ CBT was a bust…

I’m on Elvanse for ADHD.

I had heard CBT is not great for a lot of us neurodivergent people.

Hmm how do you mean; EMDR didn’t work because of ADHD?

My OCD is pretty atypical and complicated. I’m more hesitant discussing it on an open forum like this (happy to DM)

@GoldenOldie Trauma is common yes, cptsd comes from a series of traumatic events/long term traumatic events/childhood trauma. CPTSD and PTSD also have some different symptoms - and all trauma don't turn into ptsd or cptsd. But if you think you have it you should get tested.

It didn't work because I wasn't on medications. EMDR can work great for some people, for me it was a joke cause I kept thinking about paying attention to the light, then thinking about the event we were working on, then trying to figure out what I was thinking, and it all just wrapped up in my mind like a chaotic disaster..

I actually preferred CBT I think, but that also didn't help so^^
