If you go to therapy, do you do most of the talking?

Or does your therapist?

Or is it pretty equal?

I do most of the talking. I do have many issue s that are typically on my mind. It's just that even when I leave pauses in between certain issues, my therapist mainly nods. She does add 'some' useful tips towards the end, but I am doing like 30 mins. of the talking, and I really need more feedback. I do leave pauses sometimes, and she still mainly nods or agrees, but I guess I will have to ASK, 'What should I DO about this?' or 'What are some ways to CHANGE my thinking on this?' I thought they would volunteer that info, but most don't, and if they do it is just maybe one line. :(

i don't go to therapy so i dodge your question but how long have seen her and what changes has it produced?

@robertsnj Only seen her for 3 months and while she is very understanding..often mainly nods for the majority of the session. I don't need a sounding board..I need true methods to heal this trauma. I may need to simply ask her what her opinion is or tips outright..on certain topics.

@robertsnj I began therapy about 12 years ago and have gone off and on. Have had 5 therapists in that decade. Each one was kind, and understanding (except 2 ). But they didn't try to navigate my past, ask questions, or delve deeper with me. To try to change how I think- they SAID in the beginning that is what we would do.... but unfortunately we did not, and most therapists mainly nod. :( I have read from other people that it took many therapists till they find an amazing one. I will keep trying with my new therapist b/c I like to give it a bit of time. Ty for asking :)
