If you go to therapy, do you do most of the talking?

Or does your therapist?

Or is it pretty equal?

I do most of the talking. I do have many issue s that are typically on my mind. It's just that even when I leave pauses in between certain issues, my therapist mainly nods. She does add 'some' useful tips towards the end, but I am doing like 30 mins. of the talking, and I really need more feedback. I do leave pauses sometimes, and she still mainly nods or agrees, but I guess I will have to ASK, 'What should I DO about this?' or 'What are some ways to CHANGE my thinking on this?' I thought they would volunteer that info, but most don't, and if they do it is just maybe one line. :(

I didn't find therapy helpful either. Wasted several hundreds of dollars between 2 different therapists.
I have a lot of issues on my mind to but I've survived 30+ years so I guess I'll continue to survive

@iamnikki That is a great view!! See, I wish they would say anything like this lol. That I will survive... to be fair they have said some positive things, but like once in a 45 minute. period, with me talking and wracking my head over issues, for 40 mins. :/

@Coralmist I've found that they just summarize and repeat what I just told them. I need help, not a parrot 🦜😅
May as well just talk to myself lol

@iamnikki Right...i get they can't *tell you what to do*. However , I could sit in my room and say this out loud. They do often just repeat back or nod ...And exactly I'm there for Therapy..which is not just listening to a client. I need ways to tackle these issues in a different way.

@Coralmist yea, may as well. Sometimes writing things out helps me see options. Sometimes I write options to problems. Sometimes I wonder at their credentials. I jokingly tell myself I should be a therapist. Get paid $100+ per session to repeat phrases.
Good luck to you 🌸
