Anybody have any personal experience with regression therapy?

Or, do you know anyone that has?
If so, why was it done and what came of it?

It has to be done very carefully otherwise suggestions become memories.

I have never experienced this but here is what the internet says

Many people go through this when they struggle to remember bad things that happened and those bad things are affecting their life more directly at some point.
Typically they have suppressed those memories to cope..but now the coping mechanism is backfiring.

"Regression therapy is dedicated to uncovering things from your past that may be contributing to your current mental state or harmful habits. There are two types: age regression therapy and past life regression therapy. The first type is designed to target things that may have happened during your childhood, and the second type is to help you resolve issues from your past lives (although it is often used in a more metaphorical capacity). We will review these two therapies in detail later in this article.

Regression therapy comes with its controversies, and some people may be hesitant to try it. That said, if you believe in some of the concepts behind this type of therapy, you should know that there have also been cases where people have experienced positive results"

@JaggedLittlePill thanks for your input, interesting stuff right? On my commute to work this morning (my commute is approximately 45 minutes), I listened to an interview on the radio of a prominent therapist in the field. Personally, I'm not willing to let myself undergo that therapy...it's too vulnerable for my comfort. I do have a friend who decided to go through past life regression.

@Ferric67 I did have a boss who did something like that...it seemed to me she was involved with someone who was a bit....'fru fru' to me though..not a "serious" practitioner.
Regression of what?
