Hot As Hell

I have a mini heater I stick under my bed covers and when I first turn it on it's like heaven on earth so toasty and warm. After 5 minutes it's like hell.I have to keep switching it on and off.the automatic heated wrap only gets my feet. The mini heater warms everything underneath.

Is that even safe? I've never seen one before.

@sassypants my aunt bought my sister an electric blanket and when she was taking a bath she put it on her bed to warm up and surprise her. When she came back to check it 30 minutes later there was a huge scorched circle in the middle, the blanket was a gold color and the scorched area brown. I wouldn’t have one on my bed after that

@cherokeepatti That is so scary. What if she had fallen asleep when that happened. She is lucky that was all that happened. I wouldn't have one either.

@sassypants she probably would have woke up before it flame…. But it’s electrical yikes. Could set a bed and house on fire

@cherokeepatti Yes it could and she could have had burns at the very least.

@cherokeepatti I slept with one for years growing up. Most farm houses are a bit drafty and poorly heated. When it got really cold, I could see my breath in my room. Getty the courage to jump out of bed and into a hot shower was really hard in the mornings.

@TexChik It was tempting but the dangers of one shorting out deterred me. Plus they give off a force field that could be linked to leukemia etc
TexChik · F
@cherokeepatti Yes the electromagnetic field and the cancer is what made me toss mine in the trash.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TexChik could warm the bed and then unplug it I guess
sassypants · 36-40, F
@cherokeepatti its safer just to put a blanket in the dryer for 15 minutes then throw it on the bed.

@sassypants yeah I love doing that when it’s real cold or just to have one to sit and watch tv. I do it for the boy and he really appreciates it

@cherokeepatti Its so warm and relaxing and no worries about electricity.

@TexChik During the winter I would often wake up with frost on my blankets. My room was cold as was the rest of the house. I learned to get dressed under the covers before getting up to fill the coal stoker. No we didn't have electric blankets and no I wouldn't want one either.
