Im a half burnt candle...

I'd love to burn in people's hearts and brighten a little bit of their path...

I'm prone to avoiding that in exchange for the beam of a candle from the lantern I have built with my hands, and the absolute magical way it casts the patina of it as I contemplate such things from my shop, particularly in Winter when I can sit there on a stool and listen to the crackling of wood from my stove.....it is then that the faeries appear on my shoulder and I am allowed to deliberate where my mind will wander within the event....do I go past, present, or future.

I know this my lovely gurl, having lived my life in the woods....and that is the fact that, darkness is a miraculous adventure when the lights are extinguished, and yes, you have thrown that 'effin phone into a corner and dared to walk away and into the night and lay out in a truck bed in the middle of a hay field and look up in to the heavens and find the North Star and Big Dipper, and a thousand other constellations.
You will never be able to experience that in a city or a suburb. Why? There, no one feels free to embrace the night for there is no safety.

It's late afternoon here....in a short few hours, it will be dark and I am free to once again, wander out on to the porch, orient my chair, and prepare for the light show if I choose.

As if on cue, the Moody Blues appear Thinking is the best way to travel.

With my luck the cellophane will catch fire 🔥

Nah, I'm more of a Roman candle. Cool at first, then underwhelming, but if you don't respect me, I'll take out your eye and burn down your house 🔥 🏠

I don't burn the candle at both ends. If you burn the candles at both ends and don't do anything to help yourself, then you are shortening everything in life
