Big TV or little TV? Connected to the Interwebs or not?

I currently have a 55 inch Samsung smart TV bought when I bought my house in 2023. I'm about to replace it with a smaller 43 inch unit as I feel the bigger unit no longer suits.

I've never enabled the wi-fi to link it to the Interwebs as I don't trust it and don't want to open it up to potential remote actor interference.

Are you a large TV or small TV person? I'll define 'large' to be 50 inch or bigger.

Do you have your TV fully linked to the Internet, smart apps, etc. or keep it clean and pristine with only a TV antenna (where possible to get broadcast TV) and external media players like a DVD and/or blu-ray unit?

I have an external DVD unit which does not have HDMI so I have it linked to the TV via a cheapo RGB to HDMI converter.

I do not download movies, or have Netflix or anything like that. I don't have any pay TV service like Foxtel.

99 pct of the time the TV is off, and reason I don't want it linked to the Internet is that even when in standby mode it could be actively watching/listening like any other smart speaker/camera does, or a remote actor could make it do that without my knowledge.

My PC has no camera or mic and that's how I like it.

I recently bought a no name projector thats linked to my prime video and youtube and Netflix (which is new to me after I finally canceled my direct tv account after 26 years). I control it through a google home app.

These projectors have come a long way. I bought a projector screen to go with it, but it's not really needed. So far ive been playing it on my wall thats kinda off white with that typical skip trowel finish. I dont notice anything but the movies

For audio, i use my sony Bluetooth speaker. It sounds good.

The picture can be "zoomed" to make it smaller and adjusted to square up the screen if its projecting from an angle and causing that "keystone" effect (like the old overhead projectors)

I haven't tried watching it during daylight hours yet, so i dont know if it's good enough to replace your flat screen. I got it to entice my son over once a week for movie night. There are so many good movies he's never seen.
