Yes, that happens quite often where I have to remove the USB stick from one port to plug it into another.
This is mainly due to a wrong configuration of your hardware, an outdated driver or more frequently, if you have a hub with several USB ports.
It never happened to me on a more modern USB-C port but rather on an older USB-A port.
