Space Shuttle Columbia: The Final Flight

This series stated tonight on CNN. I was professionally and personally involved with the people associated with the Columbia mission, disaster, and recovery. The first show proved to have a more emotional impact on me than I expected. I look forward to the other three episodes. I hope CNN presents an honest assessment of the disaster.

Must be a tough watch. Reminded me of the Challenger disaster. You find yourself wanting to reach through the television screen and yell, “Don’t get on! Don’t get on!” So very tragic.

It must have been really hard for you to go through all that again last night. This and the Challenger disaster are dark chapters in the history of NASA.

@Barefooter25 It wasn't too bad last night. I saw it as an engineer looking back on the experience. I was at a meeting with NASA and Air Force people in California when Challenger happened. We were totally isolated and probably knew less than anybody about what was going on. We didn't even see the event until we got back to our hotel that night,

I was around for both. It stunned the nation. Excellent documentaries, and alongside NASA's 400 pg report.; point to the same normalization of deviance that claimed both vehicles.

@Confined Is it time to move and live elsewhere?
Even here in Canada our media have unhealthy editorial attachments to our political parties. I guess it's just part of the 'you give me money and I'll scratch your back for you' type of doing business. Being aware of it helps. For my part, I check with foreign news sources (Reuters first, BBC second and DW third) to get alternative opinions.
