It makes me think of the scripture in the bible of being salt and light....If the salt loses it's saltiness it is thrown out and trampled by men how then can can the salt be salty again? It can't...But I want to start fresh, and stand my ground, not care what people think of me and enjoy my life, and love God...

@saintsong You don't have to be a doormat in order to be nice. In fact, caring for some people can require a bit of harsh speech.🤷‍♂️
"Turn the other cheek" does not mean "Let people mistreat you."
Back in the day there was a custom of allowing someone to smack you in the face if they felt you had wronged them. From what I understand, it was sometimes ordered by a court. The point of the saying "Turn the other cheek." implies one should offer the other cheek as well, order to make certain that everything was completely settled and there would be no reason for continued strife between the two people involved.
Makes way more sense than becoming the whipping post.
If someone wants to vent TO you, that's fine, be a listener.
If someone wants to vent AT you, it's a different game. Tell them not direct it at you.
