What I always did, and sometimes still have to do, is make sure im dressed in a way that makes me feel comfortable. Make sure my hair looks nice, I dont stink. People respond to you differently when you look nice. They also tend to not notice you as much (in my mind anyhow). I pick a method of transport that makes me feel the most secure. I'm polite to everyone that crosses my path and I get it over with.
I always give myself extra time because I know im going to have to stop occasionally and talk myself back into what it is I am already doing.
And jsut barrel through, thoughtfully and carefully. But I don't let myself quit.
And then it is such a relief to make it back home, but I also tell myself that I also had to acknowledge that it went well and I did a good job.
I started making myself go out a certain day of the week every week. it was a routine that I grew to loathe and eventually appreciate, but the routine of it all helps. Knowing what to expect.

I get anxiety going to new places or meeting new people. I sucks cause i have to explain every single time i meet someone that i have tourettes and what my tics and outbursts are like. I think it would be easier to stay home, but as a single dad i can't do this.

Honestly? I started smoking lol.. The way smokers stand together and chitchat in small doses helped me get over my anxiety
