@Melpomene We don't know if there are long-term consequences to (even asymptomatic) covid, for that matter.

mRNA degrades pretty fast and doesn't integrate with the genome, so chances for the development of long-term side effects not observable in the sort-term are rather slim, if not proximal to non-existent. In fact, at least for now, months after the first inoculation in phase-1 trial none has been observed.

@Melpomene The long term thing bugs me but if I was 90 years old it wouldn't, but at 20 it would very much so.

@carolinehugz Reason why you don't want to catch the virus in the first place, even asymptomatically.

@Elessar I meant the long term issue with the vaccine. Not so much for myself but my daughter who haven't had children themselves and this rna being so new.
I have probably already had the virus looking back ages ago.

@carolinehugz As I said, both can't be 100% exclude. How would it be any better if, say, we'll discover 5 years from now that (a/symptomatic) covid survivors are likely to develop cancer? And it's not that much of an unlikely possibility, nor the first virus to have similar effects, think of HPV.

@Elessar it seems like scare tactics to me. People have cold and flu all the time and some worse than others and no one worried before.

Seasonal infections have never been caused by SARS-CoV-2 - simply because prior 2019, SARS-CoV-2 simply didn't exist.

It's all uncharted land.
