I bonded with a “new” (to me) relative a lot this weekend and now she’s leaving

Not sure when or if I will ever see her again.

It is sad. I honestly never thought I would have met anyone from that side of the family because my dad liked to pretend it didn’t exist. But I guess my aunt kept in touch all these years and a few came this weekend.

They were all lovely people but one cousin and I in particular really hit it off and she ended up staying with us. She’s leaving soon to make the 12.5 hour drive home and something tells me that our brief, though precious, interaction will sadly be the first and last.
