If you grew up poor what are some ways you realized you were different than friends and classmates ?

Everyone seemed to know everyone else in town and at school. It took me a long time to learn it was because they all socialized together, which excluded my family, because we were dirt poor.
@DunningKruger People are horrible and shallow . Was your family nice?
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@Idontbelonghere Oh, dog, no. They were all awful people.
@DunningKruger Do you think that possibly contributed to it ?
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@Idontbelonghere No. They made no effort to belong anywhere. But it was not understanding how to socialize because I never learned how that alerted me that they were different from everyone else.
@DunningKruger That must have been very difficult for you . I'm sorry . Did you want to socialize ?

@Idontbelonghere I wanted to belong somewhere.
@DunningKruger I feel you .
