I hate the feeling I get when the homeless person chooses me

“You don’t have a lighter do you?”
Me, smoking with my lighter next to me:
“No I borrowed a lighter for this”

I always just say.. not for you
greensnacks · 31-35, F
@Stygian it's about not wanting to not share your lighter, it's about not caring even 0.00001% how the other person might feel.

How would you feel if you're homeless, not knowing if you're gonna eat tonight, where you will sleep tonight, people spit next to where you sit, and the only relief you have In that horrible situation is this one cigarette you've been saving, you go to a person for lighter and then they say this to your face - "Not for you".

You could've just lied.

@greensnacks I would just go to the next person
Because I’m homeless
And I have all the time in the world

@Ideation From what you've shared, you seem like the type of person who would take it very personally if someone treated you like you were worthless. It feels like you would internalize that.
I always feel sorry for them but I don't smoke.

@Spoiledbrat most of them are out there by choice or as a result of their poor choices don’t feel sorry for them
