Okay...so my new name is Super Karen. :D :D :D

馃様馃様馃様 I have just HAD the last nerve rubbed the wrong way by a horribly rude woman over at the food pantry, so...I wrote a letter to the Director. I am now almost all Karened out.

Those of you who know me, know that I have been trying to get food boxes for people who live in my building who are living with food risk.

If the people who live here in my building HAD cars, they would drive over to the food pantry, pick up their own food, and no one would ever give them a problem. They would just receive food, without the rudeness.

We have disabled people living here, people whose income is below the poverty line, and...in general people who don't have enough food. But they can't drive over to the food pantry. It's quite a drive.

This woman has MOCKED me for calling in special diet requests on food orders, she has shorted us time and time again, forcing me to drive back on the following day when there are no strong backs to pick up the heavy boxes, just me.

And this time, she told the guys from my church who pick up the food that we should not RELY on it.

I've had it. We are not beggars who need to be kicked before we are allowed to have our bread. We are good people, trying to help others who REALLY need help.

I hope and pray that the Director has some influence, and can give this rude, rude woman a dope slap.

It sounds to me like the woman is a super Karen.
Let me guess, she drives a BMW or big SUV, parks her car in spots clearly marked as reserved for someone else, and pats herself on the back for volunteering at the food pantry.

@Adrift No. I don't think she is a rich bee yatch, or even a volunteer. She was answering the phones one day in the office, so I suspect she is a residential staff person at the Homeless shelter, and I think they allow her Thursdays to work in the food pantry.

What she is, in fact, is mean. She doesn't see our elderly or disabled people who live in my building as human beings who are JUST as deserving of food as the people who drive up individually.

@4meAndyou That's always a risk when outreach programs try to self function or leans too far in that direction. One reason for people being marginalized in the first place is because they have difficulty managing their behavior towards others. It's the one rotten apple spoiling the barrel thing, or like letting the inmates run the prison.

@Heartlander The fellow who RUNS the food pantry is VERY nice. He has been working there for almost 2 years now since the previous food pantry manager left, and he seems to just put up with this woman, and doesn't say anything.

@4meAndyou Once promoted it's difficult to un-promote a bad egg. When you do, that person may become resentful and want to poison the well for everyone.

@Heartlander She is definitely a poison pill.
