Am I Pms-ing or do I have a panic attack going on?

I’ll just randomly start feeling down and then within a short about of time I start getting/anxious/panic (as if I’m loosing control), then I get angry, depressed, cry hysterically, scream, can’t control how I feel and just cry cause I’m sad I’m feeling this way and angry cause I’m frustrated I’m feeling this and can’t help myself. What is this that I’m experiencing? It usually happens like a week or two before my period so I’m wondering if it’s pms but I do have anxiety throughout the month too on a regular basis so I don’t know if it’s stemming from that, or could it be a totally different mental health problem? What am I experiencing? Has anyone else experienced these symptoms or know anyone who has?

it sounds like pmdd. do you have any physical symptoms?
Fifidog · 26-30, F
@SW-User no physical symptoms just emotional. How would I know if I have pmdd
SW-User
@Fifidog you would need to be diagnosed officially by a doc, but i'm not leaning as hard in that direction with my opinion if you have no physical symptoms. that doesn't mean you don't have it... it just means i don't know

it could be just reg pms making your anxiety worse

@SW-User okay thanks I’ll bring it up to my doctor. Have you ever experienced these same symptoms
SW-User
@Fifidog yes, but with a lot of physical symptoms too. what helps me is using progesterone cream the 14 days before my period starts. it helps a lot. but i edited my comment to say that it could be just reg pms aggravating your generalized anxiety. ask a doc to test your progesterone levels during your luteal phase

@SW-User ooo thats a good idea didn’t think of that/know they could test that! Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Do they do that with blood work?
SW-User
@Fifidog you're welcome. and no, it's not part of regular blood work. you'll have to ask specifically to have any hormones tested but they will do it at the same time if you have a regular metabolic panel done.
