For me, I'm a nighthawk; swear I was born that way.

Now I'm a shift worker, probably from my ability to be up at times when others can't be, and as I get older it just becomes more difficult. I'd love to tell my boss, one shouldn't fall asleep at 8am Wednesday, then wake up at 4am Saturday, it's not healthy for anyone.

So while I do find sleep often, it's just never at hours that are normal.

@thewindupbirdchronicles Swing shifts are very difficult. You are right, they aren't healthy for anyone.
@SweetMae Maybe I'm silly, or logical, but it's probably I am more able to interpret the costs more than the manager is able. The productivity loss is very pronounced and most aren't shy from saying, I didn't perform up to your targets as I was beaten up and tired. It's almost nonsensical.

@thewindupbirdchronicles That is nonsensical.
@SweetMae You have heard of the boss who says, it's my way or the highway before, right? That's my boss and you wonder why he has the appearance in sweats of stress at almost any time....
@SweetMae Ironically, today I got a call from a supervisor, for reasons we have to cancel the Saturday night shift tomorrow. We can give you the option of taking a vacation day, mutual time off (unpaid but without consequence otherwise), or you can make up a shift. Well if I get two days off between every swing shift, if you ask me to make up elsewhere in the week, guess what it gives me less time to adjust.

I came up with a compromise, so instead of me doing one twelve.... may I do two six hours shifts instead? Then I can sleep like a normal person and not entirely throw off my schedule to get back onto days Thursday.....

@thewindupbirdchronicles Very nice! Sometimes life surprises you at just the right time.
@SweetMae Didn't feel like a pleasant surprise in the moment, until I figured out how to handle it. In turn, it may be and I can continue being an insomniac for tonight, lol.
