I know what you mean. When the light is on it's just impossible for me to get comfortable enough to fall asleep. When it's dark I feel much safer/ much more calm in general, like my mind isn't attempting to do 30 things at once and I can sort of just wind down. Same with noise, it just constantly interrupts my thoughts and I can't let myself drift off to sleep because I'm subconsciously having to listen to everything.
