What makes you feel anxious?
Kingofslytherin · 26-30, T
Just being alone in a room and I've been scared actually terrified of the dark lately . It's pretty sad a 20 year old scared of the dark:(

@Deatheater24: No it is not "sad" other than in the way it affects you
Anxiety and fear are normal reactions. Just sometimes the brain decides to flood you with the chemicals at the wrong time

@Deatheater24: Many are scared of the dark. I have a dim blue glow from my cell charger that keeps my room from total darkness. I can't sleep in pitch black. It feels claustrophobic, so you are not unusual in this.

@Carissimi: I have my tv on at night just so I have light but the closet doors are mirrors so I still get nervous I never used to be scared of the dark idk why suddenly I am

can i suggest switching the TV off about an hour before you go to bed (It`s well documented the effects of screens etc and how they affect your brain)
Have several lamps and read or draw or whatever rekaxes you in that time before going to bed
Kingofslytherin · 26-30, T
@scotsbiguy: there's no lamps in the bedroom so if I shut off my tv I will be in pitch darkness
scotsbiguy · 51-55, M
maybe listen to an audio book or radio play
scotsbiguy · 51-55, M
@Deatheater24: leave the main light on
It`s basically about getting the room how you feel comfortable in it
Kingofslytherin · 26-30, T
@scotsbiguy: I can't I'll get yelled at if I leave the light on
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@Deatheater24: buy a nightlight that you plug into an electrical socket. It adds a mild glow to a room, so you can still see your room, but not bright enough to keep you awake.

Something is going on to cause your anxiety. Have you seen a therapist? If not, think about seeing one.
scotsbiguy · 51-55, M
buy a plug in light
Kingofslytherin · 26-30, T
@Carissimi: I have no insurance so can't see anyone and I can't afford a night light
scotsbiguy · 51-55, M
@Carissimi: great minds think alike lol
of course fools seldom differ
lol
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@Deatheater24: a nightlight only costs a few $. They are not expensive.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@Deatheater24: I read before I sleep, or I'd never sleep. It makes me sleepy.
scotsbiguy · 51-55, M
@Carissimi: a good way of switching the brain into a different world and makes the eyes weary
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@scotsbiguy: It is only by reading while in bed, until the book starts to drop from my hand and my eyes close that I can actually sleep. Without it, I'd be awake most of the night.
Kingofslytherin · 26-30, T
@Carissimi: if I read a good book I'll never sleep if be up all night lol
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@Deatheater24: each to his/her own. It's whatever works for you.
