Little pain ... It brings a lot of discomfort.

I hate this GERD Disease. It really has changed my life. I feel I'll never be normal. And I've been crying for the past few days that this is what is going to take me out at the very end.
To my knoledge gerd is an espheagal disiease that can be brought on by old age in people who consume too much coffee or acidic food or brought on by exessive acid in the stomach... Gerd really is not a young persons disease so i am alittle perplexed as to why someone like you would have gerd. As my wife who is a clinical physician she treats many patients including young women suffering from anorexia and bullimia also known as purging yoirself in order to be skinny... A study was conducted for young people with gerd. according to my wife most young people with gerd bruaght the disease upon themselves from exessive purging... Evryones vomit has a high amount of acid which is corrossive to the throat lining and esaphegeal lining.. It seems as if you bruaght on the gerd disease upon yoirself...or its self induced.. This is the biggest mistake young women make in order to stay skinny... Not only can purging yourself constantly cause esophegeal gerd but can also cause bone loss tooth decay and anemia... If i may ask.. Did you ever suffer from bulemia nervosa or purging before?? How did you get it?

@Logstonewilshire Please, shut up. Your "knowledge" is all over the place and you are pretty much "blaming" the patient here. You couldn't be more wrong about GERD. Or anorexia, or bulimia.

@Logstonewilshire damn judgement much? Saying I brought it upon myself. Quite disgusting and insensitive comment. Gerd can happen to anyone. It can also be caused by pregnancy. Even alcohol. Taking too much medicine. Even babies get it. Please educate yourself before responding.
I would bet your dermatillomania and your GERD share a common denominator.
Have you investigated this?

Take Pepcid AC. It works in 1 hour and last for 12 hours. It decreases stomach acid.

There are some amazing meds for GERD today. What are you taking for it?

I've suffered from GERD since around 2004. I went on Omeprazole initially and then switched to Esomeprazole after a bad flare up. With that and some dietary and lifestyle changes I manage to be free from it most of the time now. I avoid spicy food, onions, garlic, excessive dairy. I also make sure that I don't lie down until at least 3 to 4 hours after eating. I was a candidate for surgery but I decided against it in the short term as there are some possible complications that you may have to live with which could be more annoying than the GERD itself.
