A Confederate who has a friend on the Union side hears that his friend had been wounded right after he was fatally wounded and cries out,
"Oh,God, not both of us- not all of us"
He was thinking of the friends that he had come to know well in his military service both on the Confederacy and the Union, but especially his wounded friend.
It is kind of how my heart feels missing family members and especially for the four of us widows with our spouses going on before us...
