I was bullied in school and people tell me I'm beautiful now. I've lost a lot of weight since then and I'm now blond and wear a lot of make up.

When people compliment me on my looks, I don't believe them and still feel fat and ugly like I was in high school. I have a successful, but stressful job, and drink and smoke like nobody's business, which I think has contributed to the weight loss. Is that normal?

on the plus side you didn't mention bullimia or anorexia.

you're not crazy - might help to talk to a counselor about it.

Yes you are GORGEOUS - it is NORMAL to have questions and doubts about these conceptions of ourselves especially after you undergo dramatic changes in appearance and especially if you are successful and alpha personality

I was emotionally bullied in school. I find it hard to take compliments. It’s profoundly affected my life. I struggle to move beyond it. I have succeeded and failed greatly in my life because of low self esteem.
