Just for a moment of reality

This is the type of anxiety or whatever disorder that is so hard to convey to my meds doc. I'm on lexapro and trazodone to sleep. Why am I still doing this.

These are just two fingers on one hand.

Obsessive picking ? It rlly all points to ocd
@HellsBelle no that's what a psychologist does , a shrink is a doctor ,they can properly diagnose u and treat you based on that. Mines saved my life aftr many mental health nurses gps psychologists meds etc

@PepsiColaP oh ok. do you know what term I google? psychologist or whatever? I know not all of them give meds. I think psychiatrists do?
@HellsBelle psychiatrist,a psychologist will only do behavioural therapies which are a bit of a joke ,to address a behaviour and not what causes that behaviour but anyway . Look for a psychiatrist that specializes in maybe anxiety disorders ,ocd ,etc
Wear bandaids on your fingers, 8r get something else to sooth like fidgets, rubber bands, play putty, poppers and such . Maybe chew gum?

You need a new self soothing technique .
@HellsBelle are bleeding scabbed fingers acceptable ?
HellsBelle · 36-40, F
@Nunatak I am so talented I am able to contain it and not bleed on anything and no one knows. I hide it well. Bandaids draw attention. I cut off bleeding and angle my "bad parts" away from anyone when accepting a document or business card handed to me.
@HellsBellewell they were just suggestions to help with obsessive self destructive behaviours.
Stopping one is hard, swapping it for another is easier.
Either that, or you work out what the trigger is and consciously build resistance to it 🤷‍♀️

U tried wearing latex gloves

@Lilnonames A very good idea. But the problem is....I don't want to. Of course I'd like to stop, and have beautiful hands. But, the comfort of picking outweighs that right now.
