Working at a group home and one of the girls working there was talking about the hard times she was having and this woman's response was a chipper "Praise the Lord"
In fact all of her responses were chipper -hyper charismatic type responses to anything bad or good.
I'm a Christian ,but there's a time and a place for things and it's not the time to be hyper positive when somebody's sad or going through difficult times.
It does not feel like caring it feels like a dismissal.

I wish.
That seems more prominent than anything

My mom was that way. It drove me nuts.
Every other Thursday after my Wednesday night therapy session, I get toxically positive with myself...
Takes a couple of days to wear off before I'm ready to punch myself in the face again....

@TheSilentSentinel I love the honesty, but you’re actually describing a therapy hangover, not toxic positivity. Toxic positivity is an active refusal to face negative emotions. What you’re experiencing after Wednesday nights is just your brain processing a breakthrough and feeling a temporary rush of hope before settling back into reality.

I do that. And it's toxic. When somebody asks me something irl, I just say yes, and figure it out afterwards how either to accomplish it or how to get out of it.

@Dan193 What you are doing is not toxic positivity, that’s just a pro survival tactic! Toxic positivity is forcing a smile and pretending problems don't exist. Saying 'yes' and figuring it out later is just being highly adaptable and confident in your own ability to handle whatever comes your way.

@DareToSayIT Thanks for the confidence

Yeah. Wonder what would cause that. Seems counterintuitive.
