I was treated badly at a store...

I hate when I go into a store and there is a greeter type person up front but not because that person is there... although I don't like that either. But I get annoyed when I see people... customers, I guess... having casual conversations and socializing with the greeter. It actually makes me angry because it's just giving that kind of retail position some legitimacy. It's upsetting.

People should finally realize like I did a long time ago that these positions are not intended to be friends or friendly. They basically are interrogation points to defeat people's privacy. I would rather have cameras placed all throughout the store then have to run through the scrimmage of getting past these people.

At a store I went into to look for new sunglasses, the "mystery greeter" smiled, welcomed me in, tried to extract personal information related to what I was shopping for, and told me to "enjoy" myself. I was literally fuming by the time I finally extracted myself from his greeting tentacles. After he was through with me, I looked back and the next person who came in started have a conversation... a full social conversation... with him.

If all that wasn't upsetting enough, what finally pushed me over the edge is that greeter cosplayer saw me looking back at what was going on and waved to me, practically mocking me. I was literally fuming. That greeter and that customer deep in conversation with him was really too much. I was infuriated and I ended up leaving the store.

This was a bit of step backwards, but I'm over it now.
