Surprisingly, even simple interactions cause me to recoil...
I don't know why, but when I am concentrating on a planned purchase in the store and an employee invades my space and stealthily confronts me with a scripted, "Do you need any help?" it causes me to feel like I am under assault.
This may sound extreme or comical, but in all seriousness, I think it would be a good idea for employees to wear little bracelets or neck-type collars with little bells so they can't sneak up on shoppers at all points during the shopping experience. I suppose they mean no harm, but it's just annoying to be caught off-guard like that. And it happens frequently. It happened today. I just think it is disrespectful to assume every shopper is in need of help. I realize it's a simple interaction, but it is colossally intrusive. I finally did recover but it took me awhile and it was so unnecessary. And his fixed smile only made things that much worse and obnoxious.
