☺ Well, I've just discovered that I can take coated 81 mg baby aspirin...without killing my ulcers!!!

@4meAndyou I used to get sick when I took an aspirin. Then I discovered enteric-coated aspirins. I was in my 40’s and thought it would be a healthy thing for my heart to take one a day. By the third day my knees hurt so bad, and started developing crystals in them. Just three aspirins over a 3-day period did that. And red wine did the very same thing. What they have in common is salcylic acid. I’m very sensitive to it and don’t consume anything that has it.

@cherokeepatti I am sensitive to red wine, too! When I was still drinking, I bought some drops that you can add to the wine to nullify the sort of allergic effect it would have on me.

@4meAndyou I would vomit when my aunt would give me Pepto Bismol even though it coats the stomach. It has salcylic acid in it too as does Alka Seltzer.

@cherokeepatti You have a VERY high sensitivity, in that case. VERY high. I can take generic alka seltzer with no problem.

@4meAndyou oh yes and I believe it is genetic. Both of my grandmothers were very sensitive to red fruits & vegetables. They would neither one consume any of them. But one grandmother would take aspirin for her arthritis, which was bad. Her knuckles and ankles were always swollen. I’ve wondered if it made it worse.
