"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit". Psalm 34:18

This verse offers comfort, by assuring that God is close to those who are hurting, and that He saves those with a humble and repentant heart.

God is near.

He is intimately present with those who are suffering from deep emotional pain, often called a "broken heart".

God provides salvation.

He not only stays close, but also has the power to save and deliver those who feel crushed or broken in spirit.

Sincerity is Key

The phrase "contrite spirit" refers to a humble and sincere heart, acknowledging one's own need for God's help. It is a call to a genuine, heartfelt plea for divine intervention.

A promise for those in pain.

It's a message of hope for those experiencing loss, betrayal, and other forms of pain... reminding them that God understands, and is there to provide peace and strength.

"I will never leave thee nor forsake thee" is a biblical promise from God found in the books of Hebrews and Deuteronomy. It signifies a promise of God's constant presence and support, assuring believers that they are never alone and will not be abandoned during difficult times. This assurance is often used to comfort those facing challenges, providing them with the courage to face their fears.

Hebrews 13:5-6: "Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you'".

Deuteronomy 31:6-8: "Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you".

The promise uses a strong "double negative" in the original Greek to convey the absolute certainty of "never, ever" leaving or forsaking someone. Further, he turns no one away that wishes to come to him for help and salvation.

Those who know and love him, are so blessed to have a Savior that is so loving and caring. In all the 53 years I have loved and followed Jesus, he has never let me down. I know he won't let you down, either. God bless you.

The One constant in the life He gave me. 🩷
@Punxi Amen. What a great way to express how God takes care of us and loves us. I love that word, "constant". It is so fitting for God.
