I hate days where I can feel my clothes touching me

It usually happens in the evenings, where I’m able to take everything off, lie down on a sheet that doesn’t bother me, and move my hair away from my neck.
This started yesterday and was still happening when I woke up, and I was having problems with it the day before.
I can feel my hair touching me. If I put my hair up I can feel it pulling. I am aware and distraught over my sleeves, my bra, my pants, and my shoes touching me. Ugh the shoes might be the worst part.
Sometimes I can find clothes that bother me less, but today, during a work event when my level of dress should match the event, I struggled.
I couldn’t wear what I should’ve. I ended up ok with the top I went for, but bottoms and shoes are too casual. I feel certain I would’ve had a breakdown if I wore what looked best for today.
I’m still feeling miserable in my too-casual outfit. I can feel it all touching me and I want to scream

I can't wear a lot of fabrics directly against my skin, particularly on my chest and back. Even the softest cotton to someone else can feel like loft insulation to me. This kind of sensory issue can go hand in hand with being on the autism spectrum.

My wife has days like this, so I can empathise. She's struggled with hyper-sensitivity since we were at school.

I struggle with this with shoes/boots that lace up. I feel like I am trapped if I think about it too hard and I can even start getting angry/hyperventilating.

It's a really awful feeling. I am sorry you are struggling with this today. Do you find it flares up if you're extra stressed etc?
itsok · 31-35, F
@caccoon yes, stressed, overwhelmed, overstimulated. And usually sitting or lying down in complete darkness with nothing on calms me down, and I’m fine the next day. But not today.
I tried to put a closed toe flat on today and I only got it half way on before i ripped it off. I had to wear sandals

I’m like that with certain clothes. It’s why I’m so picky with what I wear. If I don’t wear something completely comfortable I can’t focus, can’t get anything done, and all my brain focuses on is how the clothes feel so alien against my skin, like it’s a separate entity.

I can understand this. I rarely have it happening, but I do.
These days I'm occupied with the ticks crawling upon me. Ew really.
itsok · 31-35, F
@being ugh, I’m anxious for days when a tick has been on me
being · 36-40, F
@itsok yeah ew ew ewwww 🥶🥵🤢
It's a struggle, I try to be cool.
Yesterday I got three crawling upon me.
Today none but I have this sense of being overstimulated ugh.
Is this like a humidity level thing?

A mental thing?

i wish I could help, but I'm not sure what could help.
@itsok Soo if I were to change my SW user name to "nothing"? 😏
itsok · 31-35, F
@sstronaut that made me laugh
@itsok I'm extremely glad it did, some claim laugher is the best medicine.

I get that way with long sleeve shirt. I hate the feel of the against my skin and drives me crazy, glad i dont have to worry about the bra issue.
Relatable... I don't wear shoes most of the time because I hate them squeezing my feet - and sweaty, wet socks.

Over the weekend I typically will only wear my brand new cotton bathrobe. It's nice and soft on my skin. I despise clothes but gotta dress when needed.

I feel it with hair when the air is too dry. I can't stand strands tickling me or feeling overgrown fringe on my face.
itsok · 31-35, F
@CrazyMusicLover most of the time I don’t notice my hair, but other times it drives me crazy
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@itsok Same but I noticed that it's most likely to happen in winter when the heating is on and the air is dry. At those times I feel like I want to jump out of my skin.
Kuronekko · 41-45, F
Yeah I have similar sensory issues, even hate the feel of my toes touching when it gets bad.
itsok · 31-35, F
@Kuronekko I needed to wear a flat today and I had to wear open sandals instead. It’s such an awful feeling
NoxAeterna · 41-45, M
Sensory overload. Hope you can find something that will bring you a bit of calm today.
itsok · 31-35, F
@NoxAeterna thank you. I have another event tomorrow and I’m hoping it’s better by then
NoxAeterna · 41-45, M
@itsok I hope so too, wishing it for you.

I only wear clothes for three reasons,
To not get arrested,
To stay warm,
To not offended prudes.
I just went through a drive through and got a burger.
I had a small towel on my lap.
I have shorts a T-shirt and flip flops in the back seat. If I need to go in a store or something.

I hate clothes, always have.
itsok · 31-35, F
@Iamnaked name checks out
DeletedAccount25 · 31-35, M
That sounds frankly awful. I hope it gets better for you by tomorrow. :(
itsok · 31-35, F
@DeletedAccount25 thank you
rachelsj · 22-25, F
Im not against wearing clothes, i simply prefer not to
Nicenlongnthick · 41-45, M
@rachelsj love it
I deal with this all summer long, the doc diagnosed me with sweaty ball sack 🤬
Punches · 46-50, F
@Nunlover You may have a condition called DNIP also known as "Deez Nutz Is Perspiring" syndrome. A common condition in warm weather.
@Punches thank you doctor 😂
