There has to be a solution to the housing problem.

Houses are so expensive now. I hear even the houses in Florida are expensive now. How's my art degree child going to afford a place of her own? I remember renting a cute one-bedroom apartment in a convenient area for 675 bucks a month all utilities included. You cant even rent a room for that much now. What can we do to change things??

Everywhere there's half a million/ million dollar houses but none for like under maybe 330,000 in New Jersey (condos included) unless you want to live in a trailer in the middle of nowhere.

Where in the US is housing more affordable assuming the only solution is to move? I mean maybe theres communal living situations but that has its problems with accountability. Anyone have any ideas for me to help my kid (all our kids who dont make that much money) to move out lol? She wants to live alone. Thats the major problem.

There is a solution. Eliminate one simple thing from the Real Estate industry.. PROFIT. Every house or residential property can only be sold for the price for which it was purchased.. No exceptions.. This means no one can prfit from a sale. And no properties would be pulled from the rental market for profiteering. No lag time while places are built..And the cost of labor and materials would drop due to lower demand.
Now I know its never going to happen. But thats how you do it..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman how about instead of investors building lavish private homes they build affordable condominiums and such. haha like that will ever happen either. looks like the government will need to step in. so to go further looks like im doomed.

@Penny Real estate has always been the investment of the people. Home ownership is forced saving. But it became really popular more recently and of course exploded with the ninja loans and every step in the process cashed in. contracters, developers, Agents, financiers and makers of fittings all had paydays for a while.. Now everyone is squeezing the consumer and trumplike clients who dont pay are pushing up defaults and ruining lives. It doesnt help you at all. But it does tell you a lot of people are having a hard time. In your shoes i would keep your head down and look for an edge. A shared purchase or maybe an inheritance.. Something original..😷
