i love it when u talk to someone who is a firm believer in depression being just a state of mind.

saying how they understand it and went through it but decided to not feel that anymore. you clearly don’t understand what depression is, and you’re not bipolar and haven’t had to endure what someone with chronic depression has to. so yeah, it’s cool to just turn up the sunshine when all you’ve had to deal with was a hard year in college.

Yep, it's not that easy to deal with.
It's not a switch you can just turn off.
It'll come say hello while you think everything in your life is at least going okay.

Just smile!
Be happy!

There's not even one set of symptoms of depression and it can manifest itself differently in different people.

I've seen it up close and personal. It is like trying to explain to someone what it is like to loose a limb. Hold on with all your soul and for the love of the ones that you care about.

Yeah, there's always some smart twat who thinks that they have the answer. If you can fix your depression just by deciding not to be depressed then you're not suffering from depression, you're just sad and you're likely just being dramatic. Depression is all consuming. It's not just a mood.
if i could just turn it off, i would have, when i was a kid. i have had to be like this before i even understood what it was. @SW-User

I know. Golly gee, I'm such an idiot. I can't believe I never thought about just choosing to be happy. All these years, I've been choosing to be depressed. 🙄
