I was a kid with ear issues and my doctor at the time taught me how to dry my inner ear with a cotton swab.
Use more than one. Go slow and twist it on a circle. Not all the way in at first. If it’s filthy, get a new one and do the same, over and over. Never touch your ear drum.

I always use a cotton bud. Don’t believe everything you read. There’s nothing I know that works better than a cotton bud.

I take a large paper clip, bend it open so that it has a small loop on one end and a large loop on the other, bent in so the sharp end is mostly hidden. I use the large loop as a handle, and then use the small loop as a rake to scrape out the ear wax. It seems to work fine, better than a cotton swab, but you do have to be careful and not push in too far
what's causing the itch? do you swim a lot?
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
@lovelywarpedlemon hmmm could be that.
@NeuroticByNature hope it clears up soon, that must be annoyingg 👂💐

Why would you think you're not supposed to use Q-tips
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
@JohnnySpot they push wax into your ear.
BBrendan · 46-50, M
@NeuroticByNature Only if you’re a maniac. Most people are bright enough to know whether they are pushing wax into their ear or not. I think these warnings don’t apply to the majority of people.

@NeuroticByNature insert gently and apply pressure on the way out
MissyChrissy · 18-21, F
I do use cotton swabs, but its important not to push them inside the ear but "to scratch it out".

What you need is one of those strike set nails and a hammer…

JohnnySpot · 56-60, M
If one doesn't wash behind their ears potatoes grow there.
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@JohnnySpot Then it is a good thing. More potatoes is always a good thing.
