Benefits of Suffering

It seems like stressful times are useful in that they help you to let go of things or people in your life that you’re not fully invested in. You find out quickly what’s important to you when you have to focus on one or two things exclusively.

They also teach you valuable lessons, although they don’t tend to be tied up nicely and presented to you, it’s more like a sucker punch that you have to regain your balance from.

Every time when I’m in it I feel like it’s the worst thing but then I’m grateful for it once I’ve learned from it.

I understand this so much! But do you ever feel that once the suffering has subsided, and you reflect on the lesson/s learned, that you regress a little bit because the suffering isn't as intense?

@Reflective Yeah, in a way it seems similar to taking one step back then moving forward two more.

Thankfully, I think I've finally reached a place where I don't feel like I'm repeating cycles as much anymore. Instead, it's like each new struggle is expanding/evolving me. Like I gain a little more knowledge... until the next one comes along.

That’s wonderful that you've reached that place 🙏 and are expanding. That’s my favorite feeling. I feel like I am getting there again. Old battles that surface are easier and easier to get past.

@Reflective Sounds like you're doing well at applying what you've learned. That's great! Soon... you'll be gliding right by the cycles. 🙏
