I think my midlife crisis has begun.

I'm really not looking forward to turning 45 this year. I don't know what it is 🤷‍♀️. My mom's midlife crisis also started around age 45 I think. I don't remember my dad having one, or maybe he didn't really talk about it.

i think a midlife crisis is a very strong representation of how your inner child’s world is doing. it is all of our past colliding with our present because we are in a place of maturity to be able to take that baggage out and focus on it without even realizing we are doing it. it gives you no choice, it all floods out. hence why some people fly off the rails completely for a while and do really drastic crazy things. it is different for everyone but for example that’s why some men start playing with cars again and some women dress way younger than they are. or vice versa, whatever the stereotypical behavior is. it’s really about us having to grow up on a deeper level and reverting to that childlike state is a huge part of what is required to be able to do that. it is actually really phenomenal and beautiful to do that. some people don’t realize it and can’t fully come out the other side and can’t let go. and that’s okay too..

@deathfairy well put. Very thoughtful and interesting. The funny thing I've noticed being in a midlife crisis myself is how we slide from one crisis to another being young has its own crisis, and then you slide from mid life to end of life crisis life is just a ongoing crisis.

Ive never experienced any midlife crisis symptoms, ask my 25 yr old boyfriend, he'll tell you. 🤭

Your mom’s experience could be fueling your concerns of turning 45. Your 45 will be different than hers though. It’s a different time. Different experiences leading you to that number. Think of 45 as another part of the chapter this decade is writing. With fresh ink. Fresh paper. New possibilities.

Hey, you’re Latina. Latinas age like fine wine. 🍷

That could help a lot or it could utterly backfire. Sincerest apologies if the latter.
@Ducky That actually makes me feel better 😂.

@latinbutterfly Phew! 😅 Well good. Because it’s true! ☺️

@Ducky True, Latinas are built to last. Hit the gym stay healthy and enjoy the ride of your second wind.
What makes you think it is starting for you now?

Is it because of age (as compared to your mom’s age when you thought she had hers)?

Is it because you’re observing different thought processes or behaviours from yourself?

It helps to try to tap back into your sense of joy/passion/purpose starting with small things. A lot of people have a ‘midlife crisis’ because they’ve been disassociating from what makes them happy for so long, getting by to get by. Suddenly it catches up with them because suppression and disassociation aren’t sustainable. The sudden crash is the existential dread hitting them.

Convertibles and used cars in general are very expensive right now.

Glad I had mine a few years ago
why are convertibles and cars a must during a midlife crisis? can you hold onto one for me when i need it? @Keeper

@deathfairy I'm not sure, some say they are 🤷‍♂️

I have a company truck, but no worries I can keep an eye out for ya.

We men hide it well. Probably another reason why we have a shorter life expectancy 😂

Just live in the present and all will come that you desire.

Just enjoy your life. Never let age determine or dictate how you should feel. Its all up to you. God bless. 🙂
