Have you ever both hated someone too much to forgive them and loved them too much to leave them?

Yes. It was a sick co-dependent relationship that I allowed to go on far too many decades and became both psychologically and physically abusive.Just like the typical "Battered women syndrome" I thought I could "fix" it.

A day after a particularly bad night, I would be showered with gifts and the tearful promise that things were going to change, He begged and pleaded for forgiveness. Over and over I pretended things would get better. Instead, I was slowly dying.

Finally, one day I broke. I walked away and never looked back. We had shared property, stocks, and other investments. I didn't care. I left everything. I finally broke the cycle of abuse.

All these years later, I'm in a healthy, intact relationship. Based on love and trust. I understand why it's often nearly impossible for a woman to get away from an abusive man. It's like an addiction paired with ingrained habits, easily observable but damn hard to break.

If this ever happens to you, please! remember, it NEVER get's better. Get away and don't look back. Secure any help you may need but don't listen to his crying and begging.

Run like hell. I promise, you'll be happy you ended and cured yourself of a terrible sickness.

Nope. I may have let it carry on longer than was healthy, but at the present time, I'm free!
