I Am Confused, Anxious, and Depressed

None of these words are ones I'd normally use to describe myself, but I just cancelled a fairly major trip at no small cost to the association I represent for this trip. I feel like by cancelling this I've let a lot of people down who were counting on me, but I just can't at this point.

I've been sick for a month, although I'm finally feeling a little better, I still haven't had proper rest in weeks.

I'm leading negotiations for my union, which is incredibly mentally stressful and requires a lot of time and effort.

My wife is, and has been severely ill for the past year, which means that home is never really easy.

My job, which I like, requires concentration and energy and intelligence. Because of extensive travelling for my association, I've missed a lot of work, which makes the days I am at work stressful.

So now I've finished cancelling my flight, conference sessions, hotel, meeting up with three different friends, and a million other things. I feel like shit. But this is for the best, and the immediate reactoin of others in my association was concern rather than anger at my cancelling at the last second. I'm around good people. I'll be okay. I just need to rest.

Sometimes you have to take care of yourself. It's good that those around you were concerned rather than mad. That means that not only do they care, but they know it is unusual for you to do this without a valid reason.

I hope you are able to use some time to rest.

You sound like a great friend and husband. I feel like you are feeling guilty for not doing enough. Maybe your doing too much. Sending lots of positive energies your way! :)

Much appreciated, thank you!
They surely know you are a not one to give excuses and miss out on work. So you don't worry about how much the company has lost because of you. Your health comes first! If you leave the job, they will replace you. That's the truth. So please rest and don't think about work for the next few days. Your batteries will be recharged to the max then! :) Cheers and take care.

Well it's with my union where I'm a volunteer rather than my job, but point is certainly appreciated. Thank you :)
Oh! That's very nice of you! Have been there, done that. My senior had a very nice trick to get work done from others, and not over-exert himself. He used to call team meetings and ask for feedback. Whoever suggested great ideas had to own them! LOL! He is now working for the World Bank.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing for you. Get lots of rest and be extra kind to yourself. Sometimes we push ourselves too hard and burn out. Recharge time :)
Try not to be too hard on yourself. Remember the most important circumstances in life is talking care of your health. Also your wife's health too. I believe things happen for a reason. I'm sure you had a very good reason for canceling this trip. Always follow your hunches, if you don't feel right about something don't do it... I hope you both feel better, and I hope it gets better for you.. Take care.

I understand you. Too much time of stress and your body is asking for help now. Take care a little of yourself now.
