A good book?

I am home sick today and just finished reading The hobbit again. I need a new book, can someone recommend something?

I like all kinds of things if they aren't boring.

The five people you meet in Heaven.
By Mitch Albom.
An old man who works at a carnival repairing rides is about to live his last day on Earth.
It takes you through what he sees and what he does, including seeing that a Rollercoaster is unsafe.
In his attempt to save the life of a little girl, it costs him his own !
Having died in the attempt. He travels toward Heaven. Along the way he meets five people. Each of whom has a lesson to teach.
Lovely book.

Geek love by Katherine Dunn is one of my favorites. It's about a traveling circus family. The parents/owners of the show decided to make their own family freak show, so they poison their fetuses in utero so they will be born with deformities. It's very good!

Hmm, I'd give Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky a try. It's a very engaging post-apocalyptic adventure novel. It tackles rather ''heavy'' things like human nature and such, so it probably won't be a very fun one to read, but definitely really interesting!

And if you enjoyed The Hobbit, then perhaps the series of books called the ''Inheritance Cycle'' would interest you too (if you haven't read them already, of course)? I heard that they're absolutely excellent and quite similar to the works of Tolkien.

If you really enjoy reading and enjoy fantasy and adventure read the Game of thrones books. Very detailed and deeply convoluted. reading your stories I do think you would enjoy the sensuality of Game of Thrones. Master1A

@TeenWonder: There are at last count 5 books already out in the series and in paperback they are each around 800 pages.. There is plenty for you to read and absorb.. They are very intense and hard to put down. Master1A

@Master1A: I just hate getting to the end of a series and not having another book to pick up, maybe the writer dies before it finishes or something, that is so awful. like wheel of time was like that

Understood. but you will have months of reading with game of thrones, and you will find much material and inspiration for your exotic stories. Master1A

what's too long?

your short stories are excellent, you've certainly got the talent to write. why not write something longer. why not write a novel?

I am working on something now, I was going to make it another short but then I thought of a twist so kept going and now it is on chapter 3 with lots to go. So it might end up like that if I can stop editing it lol.

i would love to read it when you're ready. if it's too long for SW then maybe post it in little segments.

Winger by Andrew Smith Or Cherub by Robert Muchamore (it starts out slightly childish and then it gets a lot older as you read the sequels)
"In the Unlikely Event" -Judy Blume

Anything by Emily Giffin.
