Have you ever been in a debate with someone that ended with both of you reaching an agreement?

Other than agreeing to disagree?

[c=#BF0080]Not that I can remember.. once I have something in my mind it doesn't change.. no matter how hard you try lol.[/c]

Same here. That's why I don't debate people anymore. It's pointless, a waste of time.
@Carver: [c=#BF0080]Ikr.. usually I'm just saying "okay but that's MY opinion", over and over lol.[/c]

No. When people are given a choice between being asked to change their minds and proving that there's no need to do so, most people get started on the proof.

Only when working on that proof yields to an inescapable conclusion that their premise was false, will they change their minds. But sometimes the path to that conclusion takes a long time to traverse.

The only one who can change your mind is you. I have had friends that changed their minds years later to agree with me--or I them. It just never happens in the moment.

Yes. She wanted steak, I wanted Chinese. We settled on pizza.

Anything more serious than that it's always an agree to disagree situation.

Oh yeah! We were totally on the same page...

Depends what kind of a debate, and how serious of course... It's like everyday that it's about something simple like "It's spelled tomatho" and people can agree. Also, if you're in a relationship, and you *never* reach an agreement, I don't know to even pity you. But I think most issues that one might come out to specifically remember, both in and out of romantic relationships, will involve some amount of compromises and agreeing to disagree. Are you in agreement? ;)

A couple of times.

I don't think I've ever been in one that didn't end with us agreeing on anything other than to disagree with each other's views! I'm curious to know how often this happens...
TexChik · F
Isn't that called a compromise?
Tinkerhell · 41-45, F
No, the compromise is what happens at the end. You can debate for hours before coming to that point.
Carver · 31-35, F
Sure but it kind of makes the whole debate pointless because it ended the same way it began: with you and the other having opposing views and not seeing eye-to-eye.
TexChik · F
@Tinkerhell: nope when you have a debate and come to a mutual agreement, that is a compromise...you neither win nor lose.
