England and Wales rugby teams both change coaches

What do you think? Personally, I'm glad Eddie Jones has gone because the England rugby team has been a mess since the last World Cup. My one regret is that it didn't happen sooner to give the new coach more time.

I think the sacking if Pivac is harsher because results haven't been terrible given the quality of the the players. I think he's done enough to earn the right to take the team to the WC. but the WRU didn't. I guess getting Garland back was maybe too good to turn down, given his outstanding record over a long period of time.

I think people's expectations of the coach are unrealistic. The team is only as good as the players or structure underpinning it. Throwing vast amounts of money at one man will not change matters. A coach, like any manager, can be so bad that they have a negative impact on the team, but I see no evidence of that in these cases.

Eddie Jones was colourful and great fun for most of his England career, starting with a 17 match unbeaten run after the 2015 RWC. In return for his energy and enthusiasm he was subjected to relentless and often pointless scrutiny, and even racial abuse in a couple of shameful incidents.

The job of England coach is scarcely attractive. Rob Baxter, one of the most respected and successful managers in the English premiership, takes pains to distance himself every time the role is up for discussion.

Whoever takes over is likely to seem blander and greyer in comparison.

@SunshineGirl You are not wrong but results have been awful for England over the last three years and there is no sign of improvement. I have no issues with his personality, it's just that things were really not working.
@SunshineGirl yeah...but what an outstanding coach does is get the very best out of the players at his/ her disposal.
Gatland did that with Wales.
Which is why they they have got him back.
