Me too. The only sport I watch is football. There are few games so each game means something. Hockey and baseball go on for ever. Only two months off season.

I think team sports have done their fans out of the joy of watching.
Certainly over the last few years.

They're all desperate to reduce costs. Thanks to losses incurred during the Covid era,and as a result have let many star players go rather than pay them what their enthusiasm and skill sets are worth that made them a joy to watch.

I Certainly notice this in the UK.
Soccer teams.
Cricket teams.
Rugby teams etc.

Could be what many owners have wanted for decades now.
A chance to reset costs while just doing enough to ensure clubs survive

I was an athlete and loved most sports. I gave up on the NFL first, then major league baseball, and although I still like college football, I'm afraid the transfer portal and NIL will ruin it for me. I guess I'll stick with high school sports that my kids coach and grandkids play.

@exexec I was an athlete, grew up in a sport-oriented home. But i find it harder and harder to care these days. I was looking forward to watching the Knicks -- then they traded away my two favorite players.

I remember being called a scab by some 10 year old kid standing next to his dad when I was walking into the stadium to watch a NFL game when the players were on strike and the games where being played by non NFL players and I just thought to myself.......... hey kid, like these players would go support your dad if he was on strike, not going to ever happen............stupid dad.............anyway I really just lost respect for the fans and the players after that...........I basically gave up on watching the NFL after that.

Are you losing interest in other favourite subjects also
deadteddy · 26-30, F
I did when I turned 23. Before I was crazy over soccer.

In my younger days I was extremely passionate about the teams I followed.
Over the previous decade or so that passion is all but gone. I rarely even watch my ALF side Carlton anymore.
Test cricket, I would not miss a ball. Now I have a gander but often will watch a movie on dvd instead.

It's changing, but I still enjoy it. I like the athletes and some of the team comradery.
