Really, it's a lot more egalitarian, since most physically disabled people aren't at a disadvantage and the whole male/female divide isn't necessary. Personally, I don't think it really even makes sense to call entertainment 'worthy'/'less worthy' since it's all a matter of tastes, but ignoring that, I'd say they're equally worthy.
@BlueVeins

Yeah true. I'm just getting people's reaction to whether watching professional sports or watching professional video games is an equivalent activity.
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
I definitely watch sports, but that doesn't discredit game players, there is something satisfying about watching someone who is Good/great at their own activity,

whether it's a Scorpion kick in soccer, a billiard player running the table at 8-ball or a professional player going through a game in 1 try.

Yeah i think that's a good point to make.

all i know is in fifa games fouls get called out all the time by unbiased referees or at least the ai knows when it's actually a goal, foul, offside whatever. real refs miss stuff on occasion.
@NeloAngelo

lol so what you're saying is we need AI referees in irl games.
NeloAngelo · 26-30, M
@Pikachu i don't think our ai tech is up to par to handle irl situations. until then i'll prefer to watch 2 people play the console game.

As a mom, who's watched countless hours of video games, I'd say no.
It's not my "sport" of choice.
@rottenrobi

lol well sure. But that's down to personal preference of the game you're watching.
Sort of the same thing if you love watching hockey but hate watching curling.
rottenrobi · 56-60, F
@Pikachu you're absolutely right. :)
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
I say no for two reasons.

Firstly, sports are a good thing for athletic fitness and health. Computer games are not.

Secondly, I just think real sports are better to watch.

If you like watching games im not gonna judge but its not fir me.
@Burnley123

Oh for sure. I know why there's a bias. I'm just trying to get people to think about it.
That pretty much sums up all i do here on SW lol
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Pikachu There are a lot of biases on SW lol.
@Burnley123

lol well we all have them. But the better among us try to become cognizant of them.

I think our conceptions of games are changing. The diffetemce between games and movies gets ever narrower.
@Burnley123

What do you mean? Like how video games have more of a real story line these days?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Pikachu Yes. The Mass Effect series as example.
redredred · M
Its more like watching people play poker.
@redredred

lol the 90's called, they want their stereotype back.
redredred · M
@Pikachu I usually disregard any response that begins with the crutch, "lol". BTW, The 00s called and they want their acronyms back.
@redredred

lol then i guess we've reached an impasse.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
It would never occur to me to waste time watching either.
@hunkalove

Then i suppose you agree lol
NCCindy · 36-40, F
I'd rather be playing.
@NCCindy

No doubt
