Atheists behave morally without expectation of any reward. They do good just for the sake of going good.

Where did those codes come from? What was their source?
Couldn’t have been god. Morality requires more than one person.
There can’t be any until you have someone else to do wrong to. You need some inequalities to decide if someone is being treated in an unfair manner. So it was no doubt humans who came up with the concept

Evolution.

Early humans were more successful at propagating the species if they worked in cooperating groups. Anthropologists say we evolved genetically and culturally to live in groups of 50 to 150 people.

It's not perfect though; protection of the in-group allows a certain amount of hatred of out-groups. It takes more maturity and understanding to see all of humanity as the in-group.

Probably from the people that use them chowder head. Off hand, you don’t find many people that go around random acts of morality without some personal reason. They obey the laws, and live peacefully, but doing good deeds depends on the circumstances of the moment.
It’s not like good and evil have personally, and can judge events.

Thanks, I needed that laugh before getting some sleep. 👍

Your magical entity doesn't get to decide what's right and what's wrong for me... and nor do you.

Your magical entity is neither the source nor the arbiter of morality, and nor are you.

Your magical entity is not even a passing consideration in my life and yet I live in peace and contentment without it.

Your magical entity threatens everyone with unspeakable harm (and has a long history of inflicting it).

I have no gods to restrict me from killing, lying, and stealing, as much as I want to, and that's exactly what I do... I do none of those things

Invalidly claiming virtues for your magical entity is dishonest and arrogant.

Your magical entity

What magical entity?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63 none at all - that's the point 😂

This one.
You seem like you have no God, as you don't seem to have any peace with this concept and keep trying to force this bad logic down other people's throats.

I believe even Jesus would say someone without God can have Morels.
NOPE

If you behave well only because of an everlasting fear, you are not a good person. You are a morally corrupt person, kept in check by a constant threat.

Those of us who don't fear hellfire and yet still treat our fellow humans with decency and respect; those are the good souls; those are the ones you want to emulate.

Where would good behavior come from? What was its source?

Still haven’t explain my earlier question about fossils and fossil fuel yet.
kodiac · 22-25, M
If your god created everything, then it created sin ,evil ,pain torment and misery. Akso what if a person believes in a different God, but still has all those qualities or believes in no God at all ?
4meAndyou · F
@kodiac Humans who are created in a perfect state of loving caring and happiness will NEVER EVER grow up...they will be perpetual children. One dimensional. I think we got kicked out of the Garden of Eden because we just don't have it in us to be silly happy little drones every minute. We are TOO much like God Himself.

God made us from His OWN image...and we have elements of God Himself inside our own spirits. God is awesome, intelligent, creative, fearsome, gets angry, has a massive sense of humor, and is just so absolutely filled with love for us that He WANTS us to learn and grow up so that one day, after many, many thousands of years, we can be more like Him. Wise...multifaceted...creative...and yes, ALSO caring and loving and filled with happiness.

Till the day we are all born as gods...there will be a learning curve. The people who hurt you were very, very FAR down at the bottom of that curve.

Wrong fiction, conscious thinking doesn't buy illogical fiction

@GodSpeed63 There are countless stories in the Bible that show that the God character is pure evil.

There you go again. Making false clams without evidence.so much for science pointing to god. Just more creationist nonsense.

It's the Truth and not a fairy tale.

So, you're calling Paul a liar.

1 Corinthans 1:21 (NKJV) = "For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe."

1 Corinthians 15:12-19 (NKJV) = "12 Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! 18 Then also those who have [c]fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable."

You have to remember, he gets all his opinions from Ken Ham. You can’t expect him to read the bible himself.
Even with God, there are God-less "Christians" who support the least Christian President ever...

@houseonfire Pope Francis put it pretty clearly.

@ElwoodBlues Gosh, you mean a Christian should acknowledge the point of the Parable of the Good Samaritan?! 😉
