Recently a friend said they don't believe in a Creator because they could make a better reality

So I asked what they really know about reality. They didn't say but asked what I knew. I said I don't know enough to say I could do better. Of course they meant if they made reality it would be all good. Why do people believe a life of purely good would have any meaning?

Seriously? You're telling me that kids get cancer and people get brain-eating amoebas in order to make your life a little better? What the actual fuck?

@LordShadowfire not better but meaning. if it were all good then it would be meaningless. It's like always winning. If we always won how could there be any meaning. The problem for most people is they cannot look past the surface to see the true meaning

@LordShadowfire to those who can't understand
@Axeroberts Nope. It's just a pile of shit. Life can have meaning without little kids being tortured to death.

@LordShadowfire you are shallow and so you miss the point.
@Axeroberts Please, enlighten me. Tell me why it is that people have to suffer endless torment and die in order for your life to have meaning. Tell us all.

@LordShadowfire you just can't look past the sunshine and lollipop life. if we were only capable of good then when we do something good it doesn't really mean anything.

@LordShadowfire what do you know about any God or Creator. You have a fairy tale impression
@Axeroberts I know that if he can't create something good without torturing millions of people, he's not worth my worship.

People have been manufacturing gods since history began. Everything you think you know of god or the creator, is custom to order, we give gods whatever power and ability they need to do the job. Even with the results to judge by, you still don’t know if there is a creator or what such a being would or could judge good or bad.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@DocSavage no one knows that's true. But that's why it's called a belief. The problem becomes when a person is listening to everyone else instead of themselves

@Axeroberts
The fact is, people like to think they have free will and that god supports this by making his existence ambiguous.
Chance and circumstance is the most obvious choice, you just like the idea that someone has your back. Doesn’t make it true.

@Axeroberts
You’re talking as if god has some personal interest in you.
Good and bad are relative to perspective. Events can only affect you in a positive or negative manner. There a whole wide world out there, what makes you think it’s all about you ?
@DocSavage
You’re talking as if god has some personal interest in you.
So what, God made him just to discard him?Just to throw him away? God makes garbage?

@LordShadowfire
It’s a big universe. It’s unlikely he has the time or patience to deal with people on a one to one basis.
@DocSavage I know. I just think it's funny, because the book a lot of these people use to justify their silliness says that God watches over every single individual person, lol.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@LordShadowfire I am not even talking about that. 🤣
@Axeroberts Nah. You're saying that God is unable to make life meaningful without torturing millions, nay, billions of life forms.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@LordShadowfire again you miss the point as you envision the fairytale version of God. God doesn't break the laws of nature as many have been lead to believe. Reality is not a fairytale. It contains good and bad.
@Axeroberts
Reality is not a fairytale. It contains good and bad.
Which tells me that the creator of reality, if there is one, cannot be 100% good.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@LordShadowfire life has been created to run itself. Chance is part of life so is entropy. Lollipop and sunshine is not a meaningful life. I know humans desire it.
@Axeroberts Sounds like there's no need for a creator at all.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@LordShadowfire not for you because you have it all figured out 🤣🤣🤣
