How do you rationalize cherry picking the parts of the old testament you like and ignoring the rest? [Spirituality & Religion]

Many hard line christians are very sure that being gay is wrong as described in leviticus, but they continue to wear clothes of mixed fabric.

How do you figure?

Don't forget killing disobedient children and slavery being a natural human condition. I love shooting them down from their 'holier than thou' pedestal by reminding them that they're not even true to their religion themselves. If you believe your God is infallible then you can't pick and choose which rules to follow. Either all of it's okay or none of it's okay.

@LesDeplorable: People below the age of majority are children by definition. They're not allowed to buy alcohol but it's OK for them to get themselves killed for their country. I think you'll find ISIS combatants are all volunteers too.

Female genital multilation is illegal. The US goverment hasn't even tried to stop male genital multilation, as carried out by christians. The christian dominated UK government is just as bad in that respect.

Very ignorant uninformed people! who will grasp anything that will help them feel superior to other people! They would simply say that being gay is a worse sin (as if there is such a thing) than wearing mixed fabric. See in this instance they are able to apply logic? And of course it doesn't really matter what it "actually" says. It only matters what they want it to say! It's all so confusing!😧

Linen is for warm weather and wool is for cool weather...linen is flammable and wool is not...there are reasons for the prohibition and it had something to do with what guardians of the sacred fire wore.
