Jesus broke the simulation. He destroyed the matrix by doing the complete opposite of what is expect. He chose no gain or self preservation.

He willingly let himself be killed. If a king we're to be appointed there would be a no more deserving king than the one who relinquishes power completely and let's himself be mocked ridiculed and killed by his own subjects.
